Jinan Haoyang Forging and Casting Breaks "Steel Ball Hardness Barrier" - New Wear-resistant Material Increases Lifespan by 200%

Jinan News - On December 2025, Jinan Haoyang Forging and Casting Co., Ltd. announced the successful development of the third-generation "Diamond-Class" forging steel balls. Their Rockwell hardness exceeded the 65HRC mark, and their impact toughness reached 25J/cm². Both core indicators have set new industry records. This steel ball, which adopts a dual-metal composite forging process, has been tested to have a real-life lifespan of 8,000 hours under the wet ball mill conditions of the mining industry. Compared to traditional products, it has increased by 200%, helping mining enterprises reduce 30% of their material replacement costs.

According to Engineer Li, the head of the R&D team, this product underwent 18 months of research and development. It integrates aerospace material heat treatment technology and aerospace-grade non-destructive testing techniques, and has been verified through 2,000 fatigue impact tests. It has now obtained 3 invention patents from the National Patent Office and received the first batch of 500 tons of orders from the BHP Billiton Group in Australia. "We manufacture steel balls according to the standards of high-speed rail bearings," said Zhang Wei, the general manager of Haoyang Casting and Forging, as shown in the comparative experiment video presented at the press conference. The surface wear of the new steel balls after continuous grinding for 100 hours is only one-third of that of international brands.
