Jinan Haoyang Casting and Forging Overcomes "Super Wear-resistant Steel Balls" Technology Barrier, Increasing Lifespan by 80%
The high-tech enterprise in Zhangqiu District of Jinan - Jinan Haoyang Forging & Casting Co., Ltd. announced a significant technological achievement today: The "gradient hardening forging steel ball" independently developed by the company has passed the national-level inspection. Its wear resistance life has increased by 80% compared to traditional products, breaking the long-standing situation where high-end forging steel balls relied on imports. This technology has applied for 6 national patents, among which the "double-frequency induction quenching process" has made the surface hardness of the steel ball reach HRC62-65, while the core toughness remains above 20J/cm², perfectly solving the industry problem of "inability to achieve both hardness and toughness simultaneously".
According to Li Jian, the general manager of Haoyang Forging and Casting, the new product adopts a "recycled scrap steel + intelligent forging" green production model. The utilization rate of raw materials has increased to 95%, and the energy consumption per ton of steel has decreased by 18%. Currently, the company has signed 5,000-ton purchase orders with state-owned energy groups and Zijin Mining, etc. It is expected to generate an additional annual output value of 120 million yuan. What is worth noting is that the company has jointly established a "wear-resistant material joint laboratory" with Shandong University and developed the first digital twin production line for forging steel balls in China, achieving intelligent control throughout the entire process from steel billet to finished product, and increasing production efficiency by 3 times compared to the industry average.
This technological breakthrough has enabled China to achieve import substitution for its forged steel balls in heavy-duty grinding applications such as in mines and cement industries. The product's comprehensive performance surpasses that of international brands like German Disha and American SSAB, and the price is only 60% of the imported products. The director of the Industrial and Information Technology Bureau of Zhangqiu District stated that they will take this as an opportunity to build a "wear-resistant material industrial cluster", promoting the transformation of the region's traditional forging industry towards high-end equipment manufacturing.
