Gradient hardening technology breakthrough
Recently, Jinan Haoyang Forging & Casting Co., Ltd. announced a significant breakthrough in the core technology of forging steel balls. Their independently developed "gradient hardening" process has successfully achieved industrial application, increasing the product lifespan by 40% compared to industry standards. The related technology has also passed the EU REACH certification. As a leading manufacturer of grinding media in China, the company has focused on innovation in wear-resistant materials since its production began in 2008. This technological breakthrough marks its entry into the international forefront in the field of high-end forged steel balls.
It is introduced that the "gradient hardening" technology precisely controls the heat treatment curve, enabling the surface hardness of the steel balls to reach HRC67 while maintaining good toughness in the core, with a breakage rate controlled below 0.1%. Taking the Φ60mm specification product as an example, the single-ton raw material wear is only 0.8kg, saving 18% of electricity consumption compared to traditional products, and can be widely used in high-frequency wear scenarios such as mining beneficiation, cement grinding, and power plant pulverization. Relying on this technology, the company has established long-term cooperation with international giants like LafargeHolcim, and the export volume in the first quarter of 2025 increased by 30%. The products are exported to mineral resource-rich regions such as Africa and South America.
The general manager of Jinan Haoyang Forging & Casting Co. stated that the company will continue to invest in research and development and plans to build a photovoltaic-driven production workshop within the year. It aims to achieve full-process carbon neutrality production in 2026 and provide more efficient and environmentally friendly grinding solutions for global customers.
