In response to the industry pain point of "difficulty in balancing wear resistance and toughness" in medium-load mining grinding scenarios, Jinan Haoyang Forging & Casting Co., Ltd. recently launched a new high-chromium composite forged steel ball product. With a chromium content ratio of 10% to 15% and a gradient hardness process, it provides customers with more targeted solutions for wear resistance.
Compared with traditional carbon steel balls, the surface hardness of high-chromium composite forged steel balls can reach above HRC55, and the core impact toughness is ≥ 12J/cm². While maintaining good impact resistance, the wear resistance is increased by more than twice. After being tested on-site by the customer, in the iron ore grinding condition, the ball consumption of this product is reduced by 40% compared to 45# carbon steel balls, the breakage rate is controlled within 0.3%, and the grinding cost per ton of ore is reduced by 15 yuan.
At present, the high-chromium composite forged steel balls have obtained 3 national utility model patents, have passed the ISO9001 quality system certification, and have been successfully applied in large-scale domestic mining enterprises such as Zijin Mining and Zhaoguang Mining. In the third quarter of 2025, the sales volume of Haoyang Casting and Forging's high-end forging balls increased by 22% year-on-year, and the export volume exceeded 8 million US dollars. The products are exported to more than 20 countries and regions around the world, including Australia and South Africa.
